Sri Lanka tours

Bentota, Unawatuna or Nilaveli: match your dates to the actual coast. If you want to explore the island, leave full beach days and enough time for the journeys. Not every trip needs several hotels.

Ideas for your holiday

An island to take your time with

Choose a few different experiences instead of a long list of transfers. Leave room for a slow morning and an unplanned stop. The route should suit you, not simply look impressive on a map.

Places for another story

Open a place that catches your eye to discover its character and ideas for your trip.

Places: 3
Trincomalee and the east coast

Trincomalee has a natural harbour, with Nilaveli and Uppuveli beaches and Pigeon Island nearby. Treat this side of Sri Lanka as a proper part of your route rather than a quick stop between cities. Start by choosing the stretch of coast where you want more time.

Kalpitiya: a peninsula and open water

Kalpitiya is a peninsula with fishing settlements, mangroves and sandy shores. Boat trips leave here to look for dolphins. A wildlife encounter cannot be ordered from a menu; treat it as a chance to see animals in their natural surroundings.

Ella: tea-covered hills and mountain views

Hills with tea plantations and cloud forests surround Ella. The Ella Gap opens views towards the southern plains. If you want to combine the coast with the hill country, give the journey and stay their own time: this is another chapter of the trip.

A day you will want to remember

Leave room for something new: a walk, time on the water, local stories and small discoveries.

A day around Nilaveli

If a Pigeon Island visit interests you, check access, sea conditions and visitor rules for your date separately.

Look more closely at the sea

Before choosing a boat outing, ask about its duration and approach to wildlife watching. Do not build the whole day around a promised sighting.

A morning without a rush

Choose one walk that suits your experience and leave time for the view. Avoid turning your hill-country stop into a race between landmarks.

A little list for a great day out

Tick off what is already in your bag. Your ticks stay until you refresh the page.

Picture your day on holiday

Wake up by the sea, linger over breakfast or head straight out to explore? Tell us how you like to spend a holiday. These few details will help you choose a stay that feels right for you.

Beach

Do you love a long swim or a walk along the shore? If children are coming, tell us what kind of water access works for them.

Before choosing a hotel, check the walk from your room to the water, including any steps, road or jetty. A beach photo may leave that part out.

Room

Does one person turn in early while another likes to read? A separate bedroom or the right bed layout can make the stay easier for everyone.

Save the exact name of the room you like, then check its beds and where everyone will sleep. An extra bed may be different from the main ones.

Meals

Days by the pool and long days out call for different meal plans. Start with how much time you want to spend at the hotel.

Check serving times and which drinks your plan includes. For a full-day outing, think ahead about where you will have breakfast and lunch.

Travellers and price

Tell us who is travelling, the children’s ages and the amount you would like to spend for everyone. If your dates are flexible, add that too.

When comparing options, look beyond the room. Check whether transport, luggage and transfers are included, and which costs you will pay during the trip.

Choose a beach base, then add outings

Decide how many days you want by the sea without travel. Compare the beach and hotel convenience, then add a few places you want to visit on a map. Distance alone does not confirm journey time.

  • The actual coast and dates
  • The beach and sea conditions for your dates
  • A comfortable number of outings
  • Transfers, meals and accommodation location

Check the season for your chosen coast

For your dates, check sea conditions and the services you need. Compare the international flight, arrival time and transfer. If you want to change hotels, confirm whether the offer provides for this and what would be paid separately.

Questions before you choose

Can I combine the sea with exploring the island?

Yes, but journeys take time. Leave full days by the sea and distinguish your own outings from the transfers, visits and hotels included in the package.

What should I include in the total tour cost?

Use the same party, dates, room and meals. A per-person price differs from the total for everyone. Allow for included services and mandatory supplements.

Can I start without exact dates?

Yes. Write down your travel preferences and review them. Then click “Add contact details”, enter your phone number or email and send your enquiry. Check dates and other trip details before sending.

Where can I find entry document requirements?

Before travelling, check the destination, transit countries and carrier requirements for your documents and dates. Rules can change, so check them again closer to departure.
